Burger King and Taco Bell owner Yum Brands have removed onions from select restaurants in response to an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s. The company stated that they have taken this precautionary measure to ensure the safety and quality of their food. The supplier, U.S. Foods, issued a recall for four onion products produced by Taylor Farms, prompting Yum to take action. Burger King is also removing onions from 5% of its U.S. restaurants after identifying that the onions originated from the Taylor Farms Colorado facility involved in the recall. Health authorities are investigating the outbreak, which has led to one death and 49 confirmed cases across various states. McDonald’s has removed Quarter Pounders from some of its restaurants as a precautionary measure. The investigation is focusing on two ingredients in the burgers: fresh beef patties and slivered onions.
