Ford Motor is launching a new program aimed at boosting sales of its electric vehicles by addressing customer concerns. The “Ford Power Promise” program offers free home-charging installation and other benefits to new Ford EV owners, such as the F-150 Lightning pickup truck and Mustang Mach-E crossover. The goal is to alleviate financial burdens associated with EV ownership and educate new owners about the transition from traditional gas vehicles.
The program is designed to tackle issues such as “change anxiety,” providing a level-two home charger installation, complimentary advisor service, and roadside assistance for five years or 60,000 miles. Customers who opt out of the home charger installation will receive a $2,000 cash equivalent towards their vehicle purchase or lease. Additionally, Ford will increase awareness of its 8-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty, covering all high voltage system components.
Ford, ranking third in EV sales behind Tesla and Hyundai, faces the challenge of selling EVs profitably while meeting federal fuel economy standards. The company’s new program seeks to encourage more consumers to make the switch to electric vehicles by addressing key concerns and providing added benefits.
