The Walt Disney Company is discontinuing the use of Slack for internal company communication following a data hack that leaked over a terabyte of company data. The company is transitioning to new internal collaboration tools and notified employees that most business units will move away from Slack by the end of Disney’s next fiscal quarter. The summer data hack, which included financial information and unreleased projects, is not expected to impact Disney’s operations or financial performance. Salesforce, the owner of Slack, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff emphasized the importance of security measures to prevent phishing attacks and social engineering. Disney continues to use Salesforce products in other aspects of its business.
