Bunq Neobank Ramping Up Hiring Efforts with Focus on Remote Digital Nomads

Dutch digital bank Bunq is planning to re-enter the U.K. market to target the 2.8 million British “digital nomads.” The challenger bank is looking to expand globally, including in the U.K. and the United States, in competition with other fintech companies like Monzo, Revolut, and Chime. Bunq aims to increase its global workforce by 70% this year, reaching over 700 employees. The bank is focusing on digital nomads who work remotely while traveling, and it is seeking talent to support its expansion plans.

Bunq is in the process of obtaining banking licenses in the U.S. and U.K. to facilitate its operations in those regions. The company is actively hiring across various departments to support its growth, including marketing, sales, and user support. A “tailored digital nomad” program allows employees to work from anywhere, although the company emphasizes the importance of office-based work as well.

In contrast to other fintech companies that have been cutting jobs, Bunq reported its first full year of profitability and plans to increase its workforce. The use of AI to enhance efficiency is a growing trend in the industry, but Bunq’s CEO believes AI empowers employees rather than reducing headcount. The company’s focus remains on improving user experience and efficiency through technology.
