HSBC has appointed Pam Kaur as its first female finance chief, replacing Georges Elhedery who recently became CEO. The bank also announced a reorganization, dividing its operations into four business units effective January 1, 2025 – Hong Kong, UK, Corporate and Institutional Banking, and International Wealth and Premier Banking. Commercial Banking operations will be consolidated with Global Banking and Markets, and a new Corporate and Institutional Banking unit will include wholesale banking activities of the Western Markets region. The restructuring aims to create a simpler and more agile organization. Pam Kaur, the new CFO, joined HSBC in 2013 and has held senior positions at other global banks. Jon Bingham will resume his role as Global Financial Controller. The appointment of Kaur reflects HSBC’s focus on continuity and growth amid changing economic conditions.
