Chinese Premier Li Qiang has approved new regulations on export control of dual-use items, set to be implemented on December 1, 2024. These regulations aim to enhance transparency and standardization of export control policies for items that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. The permit system will be put in place for the export of dual-use goods, with a list of restricted items that exporters must disclose information on the ultimate user and intended use. China denies providing weaponry to any party and emphasizes that normal trade with Russia should not be disrupted. In response to allegations of supporting Russia’s war effort in Ukraine, Washington has sanctioned two Chinese companies and a Russian affiliate involved in the production and shipment of attack drones, urging both countries to cease cooperation that aids the war effort.
