Boeing Defense Unit Chief Colbert Departing: CEO Announces

The departure of Boeing’s defense unit head Ted Colbert has been announced by CEO Kelly Ortberg, marking Ortberg’s first major executive change since assuming his position in August. Colbert’s exit, effective immediately, comes as Boeing aims to rebuild customer trust and meet high performance standards. Ortberg expressed gratitude for Colbert’s 15 years of service and announced that COO Steve Parker will assume interim leadership until a replacement is named. The defense, space, and security unit, which accounted for nearly 40% of Boeing’s revenue in the first half of the year, has faced challenges such as production issues and cost overruns, particularly on new Air Force One aircraft. In the space sector, Boeing’s Starliner recently returned without NASA astronauts onboard, with SpaceX’s Crew-9 vehicle utilized instead. Colbert was unavailable for immediate comment on the situation.
